The Newcomer Entrepreneurs Program by Kingston Economic Development Corporation is designed to support newcomers to Canada who are looking to start or grow their businesses in Kingston. Recognizing the unique challenges faced by these entrepreneurs, the program provides a range of resources and support to help them succeed.
The program includes the Kingston Newcomer Entrepreneurs of the Year Awards, which celebrate the contributions of exceptional newcomer entrepreneurs. There are three award categories: the Community Builder Award for those demonstrating strong community service, the Start-up Award for businesses established within the past five years, and the Inspirational Entrepreneur Award for those who have achieved significant success and demonstrated visionary leadership.
In addition to these awards, the program offers access to various resources, including mentorship, business training, and networking opportunities, aimed at fostering a supportive environment for newcomer entrepreneurs. These initiatives not only help to overcome barriers but also promote diversity and inclusion within the Kingston business community.
